  1. Rush Hour Rain

In Central Texas there's a bit of a monsoon season in late May and early June. It rains a lot and it rains hard. This song is about being stuck in a late afternoon traffic jam on Mo Pac.

Lyrics

Rush Hour Rain

The traffic's slowing down to a crawl;
in a minute or two we won't be moving at all.
And right between my eyes I feel a dull throbbing pain;

watching and waiting here in the Rush Hour Rain.

I can't keep still, but there's nothing to do
my thoughts keep racing away towards you.
I love you, baby, but you're so far away
like a sweet summer breeze on a bright sunny day.

But the rush hour rain keeps pouring down;
there's a big black cloud hanging over this town
and I feel like maybe I'm going to drown
as the Rush Hour rain keeps pouring down.

Taillights flicker 'neath the darkening sky.
The thunder lets out a threatening cry
and the radio plays out yesterday's blues.
it's the same old weather but somehow they think that it's news!

But the rush hour rain keeps pouring down;
there's a big black cloud hanging over this town
and I feel like maybe I'm going to drown
as the Rush Hour rain keeps pouring down

I see your face in a blinding flash;
if I was moving at all I'd surely crash.
Is that a tear in your eye or is it just the rain?
Is that a tear in your eye or is it just the rain?

There's a guy on the phone in the car next to mine.
Is that his wife or his girl or his broker on the line?
And the woman up ahead is brushing her hair.
Is she dreaming of her lover and the tender moments they'll share?

But the rush hour rain keeps pouring down;
there's a big black cloud hanging over this town
and I feel like maybe I'm going to drown
as the Rush Hour rain keeps pouring down
